Modular Multiwheels (CleverBobCat edition) TruckCab Update V0.4 [LEGACY 0.18]

This mod is the 0.18 Legacy version – it should run in 0.19, but a better version ( v0.5 ) is available now running on a new plugin, and can be downloaded here:

This Mod adds many individual wheels of different types, (aircraft, retracting, springy, truck, tosh’s cart type) you can place anywhere on your spacecraft, airplane, or ground crew/rovers, as well as a truck cab, a truck crewcab (crewtank) a 1-2 offset adapter (good for tricoupled size 2 rockets or for tanker trailers) and modified Damned Robotics Hinges for truck trailers.

V0.4 now brings a much updated TruckCab model, with a non-dodgy attachnode and massively improved IVA that actually has more than 10 polygons! Also with MK3 cockpit style monitor observation system and a certain European truck simulation game inspired view on the passenger and driverside windows available with a double click, so you can reverse in like a real trucker! The textures are also PNG and not MBM this time, so you can fully customise your truckcab and interior texture as you please.

Overview

V0.3.18 brings compatibility with 0.18 using CleverBobCat.dll! You will need to download CleverBobCat from SpacePort also to use this mod, and you will also need Mechjeb for the trailer hinges, which is also available on spaceport.

Dual truckwheels (power)
Trailer wheels (unpowered) in both with and without lights variants
Truck lights (primarily for imported older models, I prefer the new lights in KSP now!)

Aircraft taildragger wheel
Aircraft bushplane wheel (tall suspension)

Tosh’s cart mod model based modular wheels, of the following types:
unpowered,
powered,
steering and powered,
rear steering and powered

Retractable in line landing gears of the types:
steering,
steering and powered,
unpowered

And the following other non-wheel parts:
Truss for attaching wheels easily
Grav engine (pushes down your truck)
Offset size 1-2 coupler
Truck cab (IVA & pilotable)
Truck CrewCab (no IVA unpilotable extra crew module)
DRBallbearing (with permission) for trailers
Modified DRHinge (with permission) for trailers

Also included are three stock examples on how to use trailers.

Installation

To install, unzip into your KSP main folder. You will also need MechJeb and CleverBobCat plugins, which are both available on SpacePort.



How to use

Trucks are driven with IJKL keys, with B for handbrake and N for applying brakes. U is headlights, O activates cruise control. The Truckcab can be tricky to use in the SPH/VAB when adding the first part. Heres the trick - place any 1m part radially on the truckcab. Then attach the part you want to add first to the radial part. Now remove the part you wanted, and place it on the truckcabs node. I think the issue is just down to how the SPH/VAB does collsion detection.

  4. This have a bug or something…. when i put tires on it is ok, but when i wana to drive, the tires just doesnt work.. tires are in middle of the road… or between road, under road.. :)
    just like tires doesnot exist, only moder…

    Ghost tyres…. fix this and u will have 5 stars…. i wana that this mod become popular… :)

  7. Only complaint is aircraft wheels start retracted so it’s hard to have payloads hanging off wings.

  9. I may be the first person to put a truck on minmus but, the inline wheels are reacting very strangely on minmus, they have WAY to much traction and acceleration, and the suspension sits lower than on kerbin?

  12. I love this mod, but I’m not crazy with the fact that the powered wheels don’t consume electricity.. Is there anything I can edit to make them do that?

  13. Yes Hayden, Version 0.4 Bobcat Legacy can do this. Look at some of the DEMV cfg’s and compare them to this, changing the module used and adding the missing lines from a bobcat demv this can be done. Version 0.5 doesn’t have this feature as it was planned to do something bigger in the future with it.
