MK3 Fuselage Expansion Pack v1.2

The MK3 Expansion pack adds MK3 patterned Bomb bay, Cargo bay, MK3-2.5m adapter-decoupler, Rocket fuel fuselage, inline docking port in stock style, and mission support module MSM, which is a large probe body with high torques and a generator built in.

Overview

The MK3 Expansion pack adds six new parts:

MK3 Bomb bay – Drop stuff below.
MK3 Cargo bay – Drop stuff above.
MK3-2.5m adapdecoupler – Decoupler faired in shape to use an adapter.
MK3 rocket fuel fuselage – MK3 fuselage with 800L capacity of rocket fuel
MK3 inline docking port – Stock style docking port that extends from a MK3 fuselage.
MK3 MSM (Mission Support Module) – High torque probe for increasing manueverability, and a generator for helping deal with peak power demands.

Mod Part Requirements – None. You don’t need any plugins to run these new parts.

Theres are also two ships, Included in this mod, unmanned interceptor, a fast maneuverable MK3 airplane and SPESS3TT-MSM, a MK3 scale spaceplane fitted with an MSM module and docking port. I have included an operations manual to help you fly the SPESS3TT-MSM to orbit. Both ships REQUIRE Modular multiwheels, which can be found here:

http://kerbalspaceport.com/modular-multiwheels-cleverbobcat-edition-v0-3-18/

License – You may not reupload the files in this mod individually or in any pack without my permission. You may however upload CFG or texture edits but NOT include the .MU files. (I.e if you make a mod of this mod, you can only upload it in a non-functioning state, in that it cannot function without this mod pack downloaded first) The only exception to this rule being the TTC7RocketFuselage, in which the .DAE file is from the original C7 flight pack and may be reused. Please do not use my textures on other mods without my permission, but you may release updated textures for use with this mod.

Currently this is something of a Beta release. I’m quite pleased with how its working, but if anyone finds any glitches or has any suggestions for rebalancing things like the MSM module, or alterations to the bays to make them more useful, then this mod may be updated further.

If you have any suggestions or feedback please add them to the release thread or to the development thread, or send me a PM on the forums, or put them on the comments on spaceport. Have fun!

Changelog:

v1.2
Updated DAE model to .MU
Removed included ships, models out of date and no longer compatible (May pack some in future version)

Installation

Just unzip in the KSP root directory.

How to use

The MSM if used as an unmanned aircraft pod must be used with an external battery, else it can lock up at times. All parts are Action group compatible.

  6. This runs legacy part system (back compatible) and no plugins. I can garentee you this mod is not the cause of your game not loading.

  7. The only part showing is the TTC7RocketFuselage…Could be a .20.2 incompatibility, but I’m still diagnosing the problem.

  8. Rolan, pack is 0.20.2 compatible. You may have installed into the wrong folder. All TT mods are just unzipped into the KSP folder to run, do not move files manually.

  9. I’m loving the additions. Lot of cool stuff in here.

For those who are only seeing the rocket fuselage upon installing: The author of this plugin never updated the parts to include the “part{ … }” definition. You can add this to the 5 models that are missing it and they will show up as intended.
    IE:

##ALL THE REST OF THE EXISTING FILE GOES HERE##
    }

  10. Love these, but make them a bit heavier, my space shuttle is tipping badly towards the external fuel tank.

  14. I’m not able to get the “Control from here” functionality working on the inline docking port. Is anyone else?

  15. You should at least be temporarily hired by the Devs or they should send you an envelope stuffed with cash and implement your parts

  16. Is there anyway to make the cargo bay be able to be opened in the VAB?

  17. I like this a lot so far. I’ve been trying to build bombers using cargo bays turned upside down, and this is better.
    A couple of suggestions:
    - I like the folding action of the doors, but because of the way they fold inward a little bit, it’s hard to tell while building how much space you have to work with.
    - Other sizes would be cool. Maybe a part that connects to mk3 but has a bigger payload section, or a part compatible with one of the other addon packs. They all seem to be lacking bomb bays.
    - I assume this could be done, but I’m not sure: Separate bomb bay parts that are identical to this, except one only allows attachment onto the inside walls, one only allows attachment to the inside end, etc.
    - How about a “weapon rack” decoupler specifically made to fit the bay? I’m picturing something that would attach into the top, and decouple with very little force so that the bomb realistically falls out. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I had the idea of a multi-decoupler with a programmable delay between each decouple, so you could load several “bombs” and drop them sequentially with one button press.

Thanks for these parts, and keep up the good work!

  18. One other thing I forgot to mention. Some of the cargo bays in other addon packs show their opening animation in the VAB, and remain open after you’ve placed them. This is handy for putting things inside. I have no idea what’s involved, but it would be cool if your bays could do this too.

  19. I can’t seem to get this working on OSX with 0.23. I unzipped the parts into the parts folder, and from what I see in KSP.log, it appears to load them, but they don’t show up in the parts list in the spaceplane hangar or the VAB.
