MechJebPods

MechJeb Command Pods & Probes [0.20] – Robau’s Warehouse

This adds MechJeb to all stock command pods, cockpits and probe bodies. No need to place separate MechJeb parts on your ship, just have a command pod or probe body on your vessel and MechJeb will be ready to go. Includes an optional version of the Hitchhiker pod (à la my Crew Tank Command Pod mod) to a command pod with MechJeb installed. If you use it, the Crew Tank Command Pod mod is no longer necessary. Suggestions, critiques, etc.? Visit this mod’s thread.

Overview

Compatible with 0.20, requires MechJeb 2.0.8 or above (only the MechJeb2.dll is required).

Changelog:
1.4
-Removed the MechJebified External Command Seat as that didn’t really work
-Added back in the crew cabin’s modified internal, which was left out of the previous release by accident
-Fixed a problem with the crew cabin being unmanned
-Gave the Remote Guidance Units more rot and linPower, making them actually different from normal probes
-Lowered the crew cabin’s rot and linPower for balancing reasons
1.3
-Updated to MechJeb 2.0
-Updated to KSP 0.20
-Removed the MechJebified Advanced SAS parts as their role has been filled by the Remote Guidance Units, which have been MechJebified
-External Command Seat MechJebified
-Cupola Module MechJebified
1.2
-Changed the crew cabin’s internal space to a modified GenericSpace3. All 4 crew now appear as video feeds, but the first and fourth are in the same seat. The stock internals won’t allow anything better.
1.1
-Probe OKTO2 MechJebified
-Added pods/rcs parameters to the crew cabin so that it maneuvers more like the other pods
-Changed the small and large ASAS into unmanned command pods, as MechJeb makes ASAS units useless. Now they can be used a way to deliver unmanned spacecraft into orbit without losing the maneuvering power of a manned craft

Installation

Unzip the file and put the GameData folder in the game's Parts folder and overwrite. Backup for safety beforehand. Alternatively you can download JSGME (Google it), place that in the KSP directory and unzip this mod to a folder. The two folders in that can then be placed in the mod folder that JSGME will create when it's first launched. In the JSGME program you can then activate/deactivate the mod.

How to use

The stock pods/probes will simply be replaced. You don't need to do anything. Any vessel that has a stock pod/probe will now have MechJeb, as long as you have that installed as well.

  3. Um, my command pods all disappeared from the selection screen when I installed this. Does this mod require a mechjeb install in order to run properly?

  4. Very useful. Simple and effective. Good mod.

  5. Great mod … any chance of squeezing Jeb into the BOMP probes?

  6. @ Kahlzun

    You need MechJeb indeed. Only MuMechLib.dll is necessary, so if you don’t want the MJ parts just install the .dll

    @Odyssey/MaverickSawyer

    In the CFG replace ‘module = CommandPod’ with ‘module = MuMechJebPod’

  11. This might not be compatible with MechJeb 2. Looking at the part.cfg for the AR202 case, “module = MuMechJebAR202″ is now “module = CommandPod” as with all default command pods.

    This is new though:

    MODULE
    {
    name = MechJebCore
    }

    MODULE
    {
    name = MechJebAR202
    }

    The first one should enable MechJeb.

  15. Could someone clarify the installation instructions please.
    I copied the contents of “\GameData\Squad\Parts\Command” in the zip file to
    “installed_dir\GameData\Squad\Parts\Command” and over-wrote the default files w/ MechJeb.

    Start KSP, started a new world, used s Mk1 command pod, went to launch….no MechJeb :( .

    All help, much appreciated.

  17. Installed this mod and now Crew Tank can’t hold any crew. Is this meant to happen or should i convert back to the old crew tank?

    Daniel Collyer May 29, 2013
  18. Edit: all other command pods fine though.

    Daniel Collyer May 29, 2013
  19. Ok, it states “requires MechJeb 2.0.8 or above”

    WHERE do I find this? I can find “[0.19] MechJeb 1.9.8″ on the home page, but nothing later!

  20. On the download page for “Mechjeb 1.9.8″ there is a forum thread. Click that and find the download link for “Mechjeb 2.0.8″.

    Hope this helps

  22. This was the first mod I ever installed, thinking it was actually MechJeb itself. Looking back at all my hasty design decisions I am so glad I installed this by accident! XD Sometimes I’m so excited to get a rocket in the air that I forget things like SAS or RCS (or parachutes), but MechJeb is one thing I would never want to be without.

    P.S. to Will Waghorne who can’t find his folder on Steam, go to your Steam games library, right click Kerbal Space Program in the menu on the left and left click on Properties. Then click on the Local Files tab and then you can click on “Browse Local Files” and TADA! (don’t worry, I had the same panic moment too when I couldn’t find my files)

  23. Will the cfg edits to the command modules/probes conflict with those from RemoteTech Probe Compatibility? RTPC uses modulemanager.dll to prevent these conflicts.

  24. Could someone please tell me where to find mechjeb2.dll
    I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t seem to find anything at all

  25. MechJeb 2 link is in the MechJeb forum. Forum link is http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/12384-PART-0-20-Anatid-Robotics-MuMech-MechJeb-Autopilot-v2-0-8
    Download 2.08 here in big letters under the big picture.

    Oinker Piig June 27, 2013
  26. Please redo this mod using the modulemanager.dll to modify the part.cfg files for stock parts.

    Oinker Piig June 30, 2013
  27. It should be noted that by using this mod you forfeit any use of the game’s own ASAS and MUST rely on mechjeb SmartSAS to fix your attitude in space – that’s a bummer for those of us that prefer to do dockings the old-fashioned way

    For that, I’ll duck two stars from the otherwise perfect rating
