Lazor Cam

This is a camera you can place anywhere on a vessel. When activated the camera will open a gui window much similar to the camera window that already comes with Lazor System.

Overview

This is a camera you can place anywhere on a vessel. When activated the camera will open a gui window much similar to the camera window that already comes with Lazor System. When active the camera will require 0.1 units of electric charge per second. You may place as many cameras on a vessel as your computer/monitor can handle and you can have all of them active simultaneously.

NOTE: Requires Lazor System and KSP version 0.22:
download it here: http://kerbalspaceport.com/lazor-system/

Installation

Place the contents of the Romfarer_LazorCam... folder in your KSP root folder. All folders are required to run this plugin. The files included in this package are taken from my Lazor System plugin. Download it here. I try to keep all versions up to date with the latest lazor system build, but if you want to make sure its up to date and bug free, download lazor system.

How to use

Use the arrow buttons on the camera window to adjust where it is looking. The "Lock" toggle button will make the camera point at and track the active target of either the built in targeting system or Lazor System's target. If the "Fix" toggle button is activated the camera will be fixed to the movement of the vessel it is attached to. If the "Fix" is off, the camera will keep pointing in the set direction ignoring the vessel's movements.

  2. Very nice, I think that more sophisticated mods should have some separate parts uploaded one-by-one.

  6. This would be extremely useful for me if it was possible to use it in EVA. Is there a possibility for this?

  8. Thomas Morgan. You are missing a texture from the PluginData/romfarer folder. Make sure to install this in the ksp root folder.

  9. Root folder? Do you mean the KSP_win folder? or the plugins folder in it?

  12. When Camera is enabled flight can’t pause or end 0.18.02 or 0.18.04

  13. AlphaOne: KSP version 0.18.4 requires a reinstall. Make sure you install it in a new directory.

The issue you are reporting was patched in the current version of Lazor Cam.

Additionally it has been reported that persistence files made with KSP 0.18.4 are somewhat incompatible with 0.18.4. Make sure you start with a new game.

And finally, make sure to install everything from the download. See the installation section on this page for more details.

  14. You need to find a way to allow a base station to pick up all lazor cams within 5-10 kms, attach a nice antenna relay to each, or a fold out dish, so we can stick these cams on all lander portions for missions on other worlds and monitor our Kethane rigs and scientific relay stations from our habs and control modules, even our rovers! ;) A 2 x 4 windowed CCTV type setup would work brilliantly on a Duna command module!

  15. Kristina, This can be done. But it won’t be like all cameras within a certain range automatically turn on. It will have to be a system where you press a button to search for cameras, and then press more buttons for which one you want to turn on.

I dunno where to put those buttons. Ideas?

    Romfarer February 23, 2013
  16. I think requiring the player to have a relay antenna on their craft, which activates the “Long Range Camera Control” subsystem, and then just have the button under that subsystem’s gui might be a good idea. Maybe make it so that the subsytem is activated by having a dish antenna on you craft?

  17. I just have to thank for one of funniest thing for this game! It brings so much footage for Kerbal TV along pictures for scientific research! From Jebediah’s face during EVA to Kerbin views from millions of km. Also that’s cool what I can turn on multiple cameras on ship and even cameras on different ships.

    THANKS!

  20. Great mod for probes, rovers and watching those decoupled fuel tanks spinning towards the ground. The weight is a tad too much for a football sized camera so I changed mine to 0.01.

  21. Thank you for this, It works great! Please make a few more different sizes and depth of focus. Maybe infrared, night vision, thermal and things like that. Again great work!
