Installation

Addon Installation Guide

How to install Addons in KSP:

Installing addons in KSP is as simple as moving files into their appropriate folders. This guide explains which folders hold each type of addon, and how to locate them. Keep in mind that Addon packages may contain any combination of addon types. These instructions are meant only as a generic guide.

Finding the KSP Main Folder.

The first step to installing an addon is to locate the KSP folder in your computer. This is where KSP keeps all of its files, including your game saves and screenshots. The KSP folder is located where you unzipped it when you first downloaded the game.

The KSP Folder contains the following subfolders:

KSP root folder

NOTE: On OSX, the KSP_Data folder does not exist. (Its equivalent lives inside the App package)

Installing Part Addons

Parts are all contained inside KSP/Parts. Each part has its own subfolder in the Parts folder:

The Parts Folder

To install new parts, extract the part folders from the downloaded package into the KSP/Parts folder.

Installing Craft Addons

Craft files are saved ships created in the game. These files can be placed in a few different folders:

KSP/Ships

In KSP/Ships, you will find separate subfolders for the different construction facilities in the game. The VAB folder, for instance, holds craft files that are editable on the Vehicle Assembly Building in game, and launched from a Launch Pad. Similarly, the SPH folder holds craft files that are editable in the Spaceplane Hangar Facility, and launched from the Runway.

Craft files placed in a subfolder of KSP/Ships will be available to all saved games. Ships placed here are considered to be "Stock",. They won´t be overwritten directly if edited, and cannot be deleted from inside the game.

KSP/saves/"playername"/Ships

It is also possible to make craft files available to only one saved game:

Each game started creates its own folder in KSP/Saves. Each save has its own Ships folder, which is organized in the same way as the common Ships folder above. Craft files placed in one of the subfolders are only visible when playing the corresponding game, and can be overwritten and deleted. Ships created while playing the corresponding game are also saved in these folders.

Installing Scenarios and Training Addons

The KSP/Saves folder contains the training and scenarios subfolders. SFS files in the training subfolder are listed in the Training section of the Main Menu in the game, and files in the scenarios subfolder are visible in the Scenarios section of the menu.

To install scenarios and training missions, extract the SFS files from the downloaded package into the appropriate subfolder.

Installing Plugins

The KSP/Plugins folder holds the DLL files for plugin-powered addons. These plugins extend the funcionality of the game, adding new part types, or new missions.

To install a plugin, extract the DLL files from the downloaded package into the KSP/Plugins folder.

Installing Internal Models

Some addons add new internal spaces and objects. Those are installed in the KSP/Internals folder.

Props

Props are objects that can be added into internal spaces, like cockpit gauges or cabin decorations. Each internal prop has its own folder in KSP/Internals/Props:

Spaces

Spaces are the internal models that are associated with parts. Each internal space has its own folder in KSP/Internals/Spaces:

To install internal props and spaces, extract the folders from the downloaded package into the appropriate subfolder.

  5. I can only get the trusses into the game with clean install. I wish I knew why the other parts weren’t entering the game.

  6. As much as I see that this MOD was needed by the community, I cant understand why you chose to make these parts with such extreme basic textures and skins. You should definitely make 3 sizes for every part you created, and spend a bit more time making them look as good as the tons of great parts out for KSP today. No one is making these parts, but that shouldn’t encourage you to leave them so unfinished and lacking in options. Sorry for being harsh, but make them right and everyone will remember your mod as a top ten. 3 sizes for each part, and start fixing the texture/skins PLEASE.

  7. I have the same problem as videomaji above. Clean install, only the trusses actually load. Running the steam version of the game if that makes a difference.

  8. I really hope you did not take my comment as an insult, I would just like to use your great addition’s more, but due to the lack of size options, and the overall lack of great appearance, I cant fit them into my KSP gaming. Please consider making 3 sets of different sizes and work on the texture/skins a bit more.

  9. I love this addon, It’s just a shame that it can’t be used for reaction control anymore. Or I’m doing something wrong…

    MmPMSFmM May 5, 2013
  10. I’m wondering about this MuMechLib.dll file included with this addon. I already have MechJeb 1.9.8 installed. Is this the exact same .dll ? Is it different and as such is required for these parts to work? Why are you including it? There’s no readme to explain this.

    Vaughn Stegeman May 8, 2013
  11. NOT WORKING!!!
I have mechjeb and it not work

I tried removing mechjeb and using included dll still no work

Explain or I will hunt you to extenction!

  12. thanks for the parts, this adds so much to the games possibilities.

ive found an issue, apparently the hydralic cylinders do NOT respond to the popup hud, and therefore are useless unless you set open/close buttons in the config. Please fix!

Thanks again, especially love the rotation mechanisms :D

    Tiney_Brain June 8, 2013
  31. Because it’s broken. The author needs to get on the stick and fix it for .20+ Someone please get the code and fix it, it’s not like these parts and robotics are being paid for, just fix them and re-post them, I don’t want to even play .20 anymore, I play 19.1 for now because I can use the Damn Robotics package.

  36. I tried version 1.3 on KSP 2.x and it wiped out all my ships I had in orbit.
    Be careful!

    Gary Parkin June 19, 2013
  37. Will you be updating to V 20.2 soon?

This is one of my fav Mods but can’t use it on ksp 20.2 :(

    cpear58 June 19, 2013
  38. please update to newest version of ksp

    Sean O'Connor June 22, 2013
  39. Dont install this on V..20 as it will not load properly…I did install it properly and then run debug mode as it started up. Parts didn’t load due to Model files being Dae. and some confliction. when the game started NO parts showed up in the VAB (empty). i doulble checked my install and removed another mod that i though might be causing this but to no avail. This mod simply needs updated to the new texture format and file config. Great mod though…i will miss until it is fixed.

  41. I recommend following the link that PhoenixMcc posted, I’m using it, and it works with the latest version of KSP.

    999optics June 27, 2013
  42. An update for this mod to work with 21.1 would be fantastic. I will see if I can dig into the code and get it updated if the owner is not able to do it soon.

    joshua wilson August 8, 2013
  43. Downloaded the mod, it ended up making the game not load any of my parts, and deleted all of my active ships. I guess I should have checked if it worked for 21.1 first though. : (

    mark daming August 19, 2013
  44. Doesn’t work, and breaks your stuff. Be careful, avoid downloading this!

    pr0metheus September 27, 2013
  45. I hope that the person that made this updates it or Squad adds these parts (or similar ones) because this would make the Pirated weaponry mods guns so much easier to use

    Leif Eriksen November 23, 2013
  46. Still broken?

    Marcel Fitzner March 3, 2014
  47. Really want to use this mod, but when it’s installed, no parts at all show up and so I can’t build anything. A fix please?
