BFT Conformal Tank Pack v1.0

Low profile external tanks that are form-fitted and sleek. 4 flavours: Fuel, RCS, Battery and Xenon

Specifically designed to fit snuggly around 1Metre tanks/modules in particular, these tanks can increase the endurance capacity of your spacecraft without increasing its girth.
Four versions are currently available: Fuel, RCS and Xenon tanks, as well as the Battery pack

Especially good for final stages and lander modules.
They also work well with the slim decoupler addons, if used during the launching stages.

Maximum of 6x symmetry on 1Metre modules, though 8x works fine on 2+ metre parts

If you want larger versions, simply make a copy, rename to BFT_Form-tank_[TYPE]2 or similar and edit the config file by changing the rescaleFactor to:
rescaleFactor = 2
Then increase the mass and fuel/charge quantities by 8 times. (square-cube law at work :)

Unzip and drop the Parts file into your KSP_win directory

How to use

Simply strap onto your rocket and go.

  1. Mind if I ask what slim decouplers you’re using? I searched spaceport for some, and didn’t find any.

  2. Excellent. Thank you.

  3. Eric, theres a number of them in the NovaPunch pack, but the best ones I’ve found for them are from NRG in the Tornado III pack.

    Hope you like :)

  4. I know what you mean re. the fonts, but the main thing i was going for was clarity in the text. Ive got copies of the UV maps saved with a separate layer for the text, labels etc for later modification.
As for the model style, thats an inherent property of making the model have a large volume, low profile, and streamlined. Theres not a lot I can do about that without changing every vertex *shudder*

  6. Dude… I want the parts to automatically feed into the part they are attached to… Please?

  7. Sorry Eric. Due to a bug in KSP, the automatic fuel crossfeed is disabled, even on stock parts :(

  8. These are by far the best looking radial/modular hopper tanks ive found so far. Wonderful deep space sci-fi feel to em…and a must have for anyone doin a lot of air/spaceplane builds

  9. just a side thought….a kethane tank in this set would be KILLER =P

  10. Brilliant mod. We need more simple things like this, especially with use for Ferram Aerospace, where drag is a big deal! I’m going to be using these on modified versions of my spaceplanes to eke out some more delta-V in orbit.

Only one suggestion, though – how about conformal tanks for LiquidFuel only (for jet engines) and possibly even Kethane? Both of those would be quite useful. The former would be great for boosting the efficiency of SABRE engined craft.

Great work, and thank you for putting this up!
