[KSP 0.23] Anvil Rockets [1.7.2]

Two workhorse rockets (with 8 variations total) capable of delivering payloads in excess of 36 tonnes to LKO. Contains all parts necessary to build the Anvil IV, Anvil IV “Light”, Anvil V and Anvil V “Light” as well as .craft files for ease of use.

Overview

The Anvil series of rockets are designed for simplicity and ease. While many great addons offer a myriad of different parts that allow you to create anything you could imagine CORE has taken a different approach. Each of the rockets in this pack are designed with specific payload masses in mind. With a few small changes in part selections you can launch any payload with a mass in excess of 30 tonnes on a simple, reliable platform.

Addon Installation Guide

 

How to install Addons in KSP:

Installing addons in KSP is as simple as moving files into their appropriate folders. This guide explains which folders hold each type of addon, and how to locate them. Keep in mind that Addon packages may contain any combination of addon types. These instructions are meant only as a generic guide.

 

Finding the KSP Main Folder.

The first step to installing an addon is to locate the KSP folder in your computer. This is where KSP keeps all of its files, including your game saves and screenshots. The KSP folder is located where you unzipped it when you first downloaded the game.

The KSP Folder contains the following subfolders:

NOTE: On OSX, the KSP_Data folder does not exist. (Its equivalent lives inside the App package)

 

Installing Part Addons

Parts are all contained inside KSP/Parts. Each part has its own subfolder in the Parts folder:

The Parts Folder

To install new parts, extract the part folders from the downloaded package into the KSP/Parts folder.

 

Installing Craft Addons

Craft files are saved ships created in the game. These files can be placed in a few different folders:

KSP/Ships

In KSP/Ships, you will find separate subfolders for the different construction facilities in the game. The VAB folder, for instance, holds craft files that are editable on the Vehicle Assembly Building in game, and launched from a Launch Pad. Similarly, the SPH folder holds craft files that are editable in the Spaceplane Hangar Facility, and launched from the Runway.

Craft files placed in a subfolder of KSP/Ships will be available to all saved games. Ships placed here are considered to be "Stock",. They won´t be overwritten directly if edited, and cannot be deleted from inside the game.

KSP/saves/"playername"/Ships

It is also possible to make craft files available to only one saved game:

Each game started creates its own folder in KSP/Saves. Each save has its own Ships folder, which is organized in the same way as the common Ships folder above. Craft files placed in one of the subfolders are only visible when playing the corresponding game, and can be overwritten and deleted. Ships created while playing the corresponding game are also saved in these folders.

 

Installing Scenarios and Training Addons

The KSP/Saves folder contains the training and scenarios subfolders. SFS files in the training subfolder are listed in the Training section of the Main Menu in the game, and files in the scenarios subfolder are visible in the Scenarios section of the menu.

To install scenarios and training missions, extract the SFS files from the downloaded package into the appropriate subfolder.

 

Installing Plugins

The KSP/Plugins folder holds the DLL files for plugin-powered addons. These plugins extend the funcionality of the game, adding new part types, or new missions.

To install a plugin, extract the DLL files from the downloaded package into the KSP/Plugins folder.

 

Installing Internal Models

Some addons add new internal spaces and objects. Those are installed in the KSP/Internals folder.

Props

Props are objects that can be added into internal spaces, like cockpit gauges or cabin decorations. Each internal prop has its own folder in KSP/Internals/Props:

Spaces are the internal models that are associated with parts. Each internal space has its own folder in KSP/Internals/Spaces:

 

To install internal props and spaces, extract the folders from the downloaded package into the appropriate subfolder.

  17. Finally managed get my heavy Laythe lander up to Kerbin orbit without tons of stupid fuel stacking etc. Perfect pack for lifting something really heavy and massive up. And I don’t feel that parts are overpowered. Bonus for textures, parts looks like they belong to the game.

(naturally not the base you start from.) you go off from the runway and you see a big island and on the island’s beach there is A RUNWAY, CONTROL TOWER, AND 3 HANGERS! plz comment if u read this cuz i want to know who else knows about this

  21. This mod doesn’t get enough attention – it’s damn good. Only way it might be improved on would be to add the glowing red engine effect while engines are in use, but that’s a small nitpick.

  22. Great pack, it’s just missing some in-between sizes. You have the SUPERMEGAJUMBO (dunno the size, I’m stupid.) and 2, but now parts ranging in size between the two, and either I’m stupid(er than I thought I was) or I can’t find any couplers that fit the two existing sizes together. Really, other than that I can’t think of anything to gripe about, it’s just a really great set of parts.

  24. Can you please make the radial SRB decoupler have force and be a bit bigger, because the SRB’s smash into the main lifter stage, and the radial deorbit engines dont have enough power.

  25. I’ve followed the installation but something is strange.. Which ever SHIP I’m trying to load it says I’m missing several CORE parts. Anyone able to explain this to me? What am I doing wrong? I’ve followed the installation instructions..

    my rockets are flipping to retrograde while doing gravity turn and then they flip back to prograde and back again.

    i don´t know what to do but every designs doing it

    oh and forgot to say that some times the big lift part sometimes is stuck on lift off launch pad even that ha TWR cca 2,0 and didn´t went up at full power….

    i am using lot of mods but still those problems can´t be with contact between mods

  28. Missing CORE parts while trying to load a ship is often caused by using an outdated ship file. Whenever you update the Anvil to its latest build I recommend replacing your ship files as well.

    The CG of the CSB parts is unrealistically low on the part. That was done to make it controllable while manually flying the rockets. That may cause problems with automated flight scripts, such as mechjeb, but I since I do not use mechjeb I can’t offer any suggestions.

  29. I made an awesome space probe, but I spent an entire day trying to get your rockets to space… With out success. :(

    I tried everything I know, asparagus staging bigger sized rockets for a competitively smaller payload, adding up to 8 of the largest SRB’s that came with the mod for more delta v at sea level… What am I doing wrong????

  30. Matt, SRBs are not too great, try to get the hang of the game with stock parts, and with this mod be sure that you are using the normal parts/rockets, not the “light” ones with less fuel. There are ingame tutorials for getting into space, they are very good. There are also tutorials for getting to the moon and even planets. These rockets look good, but they don’t have a few necessary parts to them, like RCS tanks,RCS thrusters, ASAS, battery capacity, solar panels/SAS, so use stock parts, or other mods like KW rocketry and NovaPunch to get the hang of the game.

  31. Great addo though one major problem is that when ever I go to launch a pre-made ship it falls apart and blows up! I have o idea why this is, I have tried increase the strength of everything and that does not seem to work. Please fix this if its not just me cause I cant go anywhere with out a sturdy, powerful rocket. If you need more info email me at 14madrake@pulaskischools.org help would be much appreciated.

    Excellent, clean mod. Models and textures do not clash with stock parts.

    Use if you are apprehensive about introducing too much clutter to your mostly vanilla game. This is very slick and low profile, very non-intrusive.

    Worth noting is that the rockets have very believable specs. Mod maker has paid careful attention to detail, right down to the flavor text in style of the standard game and included pdf guide. I would consider this an example of a polished product.

    Latest Anvil IV addition is immensely useful as at this point the novelty of designing giant asparagus monstrosities has worn thin for me.

    These rockets are now my go-to solution for delivering large and small payloads in clean, uncluttered style.

If you’re having trouble figuring out how to build the fairings: first build the part (probe, lander, or whatever) that you want inside the fairing, then put the fairing base on the bottom of it. Next place the nose cone piece, up high leaving space for the side walls. Once the nose is placed the side fairings will snap onto it. When the nose and side walls are all in place you can move them all at once by grabbing the nose part.
